Biography
Matt Baughman is a 6th year PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Chicago, advised by Kyle Chard and Ian Foster. Matt grew up in Wisconsin before attending Minerva University for undergrad, where he studied Computational Analysis and Philosophy. Matt's PhD focuses on automating cost-aware distributed computing. His research extends to many application areas including federated learning and genomics and he works extensively with serverless computing and HPC.
