Biography
Adam Focht has worked in HPC systems administration and engineering since 2004, save for a 5-year period of service in the non-profit sector. Prior to that, he was an HPC user in materials science and solid state physics. He has been an enthusiastic user of Linux since 2000 and is a Red Hat Certified Architect.

Adam is currently the Senior Engineer for Penn State’s Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS). He serves on the special projects team where he explores emerging technologies and novel approaches to HPC. His efforts include pioneering Penn State’s on-premise and public cloud HPC efforts, Kubernetes, systems automation, and our unified storage cloud. He is eager to simplify the use of computational resources for researchers and is driven by the real-world societal impact of computational research.
