Dr. Andrew Shao is a Senior HPC & AI Research Scientist at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. He works to prioritize, design, and implement features for HPE's SmartSim open-source software library. In this capacity, he contributes to HPC and AI software strategy and engineering, facilitates new strategic opportunities in government, academia, and industry focusing particularly on combining traditional numerical techniques with AI/ML methods across a variety of scientific domains. He holds a PhD in Physical Oceanography from the University of Washington and has contributed to the development of ocean models in the US and Canada.
