Biography
Frank Würthwein is the Director of the San Diego Supercomputer Center, the Executive Director of the Open Science Grid, and the PI of the National Research Platform. His work on Cyberinfrastructure has been focused on advancing the sharing of resources, software, and knowledge via globally distributed computing systems. His group designed, implemented, and is presently operating such globally distributed systems that allow federation of resources at multiple layers of the infrastructure software stack.

He presently holds faculty position in physics and data science at UC San Diego. He received his Ph.D. from Cornell in 1995, and after holding appointments at Caltech and MIT, joined the UC San Diego faculty in 2003.
