Osman Seckin Simsek
Biography
Osman Seckin Simsek is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Basel, specializing in high-performance computing (HPC), runtime systems, and heterogeneous programming. His expertise lies in performance analysis and optimization for heterogeneous platforms.
Currently, Osman is an integral part of the SPH-EXA2 project, where he focuses on load-balancing and energy efficiency measures for the SPH-EXA simulation framework.

Prior to joining the HPC Group at Basel, Osman served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Manchester, where he was part of the EuroExa project. His responsibilities included porting portions of the LFRic weather forecast application onto FPGAs for acceleration.

Osman earned his Ph.D. in 2019 from the University of Manchester, focusing on data-flow task parallel runtimes on heterogeneous systems. His thesis delved into developing dynamic runtime scheduling strategies for heterogeneous platforms, enabling optimal task execution and performance gains.
