Biography
LeAnn M. Lindsey is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at the University of Utah in Hari Sundar's lab. LeAnn is interested in using high-performance computing and machine learning to investigate biological questions at the genome level. Her graduate research has focused on accelerating sequence alignment algorithms and using machine learning to identify genomic signatures in bacterial and metagenomic data. She holds a master's degree in Scientific Computing from NYU and a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from MIT. She completed her master's thesis, Identifying a lncRNA signature in Breast Invasive Carcinoma, at the Genome Technology Center at NYU under the direction of Kasthuri Kannan and Leslie Greengard. She has been an intern at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs for the past three summers working under Muaaz Awan.
