Biography
Arthur "Barney" Maccabe is the Executive Director of the University of Arizona Institute for Computation and Data-Enabled Insight. This newly formed institute was formed to support faculty led research using computation and data-enabled methods. From 2009 to 2022, he served as the Director of the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. From 1982 to 2008, he held a faculty appointment in the Computer Science Department at the University of New Mexico, where he was also director of the Center for High Performance Computing and Interim Chief Information Officer. Dr. Maccabe's research has focused on computing systems. He holds a BS in Mathematics from the University of Arizona and MS and PhD in Information and Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
