Biography
Robert Speck leads the Division “Mathematics and Education” at Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) and is one of the deputy directors of JSC. In his research, he focuses on the development, implementation and application of parallel-in-time integration methods. He works in particular on the development and analysis of high-order iterative time-stepping schemes as well as algorithm-based fault tolerance and is the lead developer of the pySDC code, a Python prototyping framework for the spectral deferred correction approach and its many flavors. Besides parallel numerical mathematics, he is also very interested in research software engineering and leads a small research team at JSC on this topic. He is the director of the Joint Laboratory for Extreme Scale Computing (JLESC), supports PhD students in Jülich, and strongly advocates equal opportunities and diversity.
