Lonnie Crosby
Biography
Dr. Lonnie D. Crosby leads the Scientific Computing Group at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s National Institute for Computational Sciences (NICS). As Principal Investigator of the US National Science Foundation (NSF) Cross-Institutional Research Engagement Network (CIREN), he recruits, trains, and connects cyberinfrastructure facilitators with researchers in the areas of high-performance computing (HPC), machine learning, and artificial intelligence. With over 19 years of experience in scientific computing, Dr. Crosby has contributed to computational chemistry research, HPC facilitation, and application support activities. He played a key role in the NSF eXtreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) project, where he managed approximately 27 collaborative projects each year as the Manager for Extended Support for Research Teams.
